carrie bradshaw look

since i have accidental free cable tv now, i've been a total bum and have basically done nothing except work and watch tv. yup, the post-grad life is a good one. while watching an old rerun of sex and the city the other night, i couldn't keep from staring at carrie's stunning makeup. she had very warm gold eyeshadow on (which is basically my favorite eyeshadow look of all time) and bright pink cheeks. but what really killed me was her perfect spicy-neutral matte lipstick that made her eyes look so blue. observe:

ok, so the pictures don't do her any justice. but if you've ever seen an episode of sex and the city, you know what i'm talking about. so i instantly thought, how can i try this myself?? i dug out some old covergirl outlast lipsticks, and this is what happened:

eyes: the gold pan from covergirl's 4-pan in "country woods"
cheeks: that same cotton candy pink blush from last time (i'm looking for a new one, btw)
lips: 2 covergirl outlast shades- "sleek suede" (L) and "my papaya" (R), below:

i actually wore "my papaya" to my wedding.... which made me smile today :). i've forgotten how much i loved these outlast lipsticks. i think i have like... uhh too many. i'm definitely gonna have to start wearing these more, since they stay awesome-looking for hours upon hours, which is great for this ridiculously hot nashville weather.

120 days of shadow: Day 32

This is what I picked out for Saturday (even though it's Monday... oops). I didn't really feel like doing anything crazy because, um, it was Saturday. And I spent all day cleaning and studying. Glamorous, yes I know.

For the rest of my look, I put on lots of blush (Wet 'n Wild Ultimate Minerals in Rose Shimmer) and the lipstick I wore on my wedding day (everyone say awwwwwwww). It's CoverGirl Outlast in My Papaya. I like that it's almost my actual lip color, but a little brighter and punchier. Plus this stuff will not come off. Ever. Unless you get some kind of makeup remover, or if you're cheap like me, baby oil. Works like magic. I use it for my eye makeup too.

120 days of shadow: Day 6

Today was a very important day: Green Eyeshadow Day! Well, I don't know how important it is, because I'm pretty sure no one could tell what color shadow I was wearing.... I asked my husband and he said, "light blue? gray?", so whatever. Let's just call it Awesome Shimmery Eyelids Day.

I blended that same peach from yesterday into my crease just for giggles. No, I'm not being uber creative. I actually stole that idea from Indian Girl. Check out her blog- her pictures of her eyeballs look much better than mine.

I also have Rimmel's Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Pine (a mossy green) around my eyes, although it's kind of subtle. That's why I included this crappy close-up of my scary eyeball. But regardless of the scary picture, these liners are great! I use the black one almost every day, and just bought a brown one for more subtle looks (what with all these crazy-colored eyeshadows and all!). They last way better than Revlon's Colorstay, which I used to pay $9 a pop for. Stupid, I know. Now I pay about $4 for these, which are much better and have a really nice color range. Next I wanna try purple.... Mmmm.

And of course, I picked a peach lipstick (yay, peach!). You'll soon find out that I've been hunting for the perfect peach (a cross between light pink and light orange) for what feels like FOREVER. This one, however, is pretty near perfect. It's CoverGirl's Outlast Double Lipshine in Sahara, which is an awesome color! And don't even get me started on Outlast products. Some people would openly mock me for this, but I love long-wearing lipcolors! They're like nailpolish for your lips! (You have to get some kind of remover to take the color off at night.) But maybe this is just a matter of taste. Some people like sheer glosses that you have to reapply every hour on the hour.
