wet 'n wild meglast lipstick in "just peachy"

oops, sorry for being absent. i've been off having some birthday/memorial day/summer vacation fun. but don't worry, i have *tons* of new stuff to review and gush about. first off, my new favorite peach lip product! (i refuse to say "lippie", because i hate that word. almost as much as i hate "gorge." bleh).

it's part of wet 'n wild's new collection called megalast. let me just say, both the lipstick and the nail polish from this collection are awesome. i highly recommend them, especially because they're dirt cheap. here's the lipstick in "just peachy" in person:

oh look, it's featured in my lip products hall of fame =P. it's the one on top in the black tube.

now, this is called "megalast" after all, so it's very matte and long-lasting. if you weren't born with perfectly moist, pillowy lips, then it will probably accentuate any dry spots. so uhh, exfoliate! even still, i like to wear it with a little balm or gloss over it.

here it is with just a little balm:

and here it is with shiny gloss (which i think i prefer):

can we talk about the color? how perfect is it?? it's like the love child of pale peach and pale pink. for some reason, this perfect shade is *so hard* for me to find at the drugstore. who would've thought that one of the cheapest makeup brands in the world would make it? it's laughable.

by the way, there are lots of other mouth-watering shades too. "wine room" looks particularly appealing.... anyone else love these lipsticks? or found your perfect peachy-pink shade?

WORST BLOGGER IN THE WORLD

That's me, in case you were wondering. Things just got too crazy with school and, you know, life in general. Plus that eyeshadow challenge was a little too umm...... challenging. Ha. I really like my neutral eyeshadows lol. Anyway, I may do a few more- maybe some of the color families I haven't attempted yet. I think a lot of them are pretty similar though.

But in other news, I found out something that will seriously change the course of my life (or at least my face) for the worse. CoverGirl's TruShine Lipsticks are being DISCONTINUED!!!!!!! I found this out on the lovely Internets and was legitimately upset. That was the only lipstick I ever completely used. That was the one shade I could literally throw on in the car without a mirror and know that it would simultaneously match anything I was wearing and brighten up my tired face. SOOO upset.

I have browsed online for a worthy substitute, and the only similar shade and sheer formula I could find was Neutrogena's MoistureShine Lip Sheers in Plum Kiss. Not that I've tried it yet because they're almost $10 for a stinkin tinted lip balm. But they are tingly. Hmmm....

Anyway, I have found another tinted tingly lip balm that I like. Although the colors are a little hit-or-miss. It's Wet 'n Wild's Natural Wear Lip Shimmers:

They are $1.99 at most places, they have an amazing tingle, and are SUPER pigmented. I tried 106 and 101- 101 is definitely my favorite. The cap looks kind of spice-colored (I actually think the name is Spice- but you know how Wet 'n Wild products have a name but it comes off with the plastic wrapping so then you can never remember it), but it's kind of a peach shade. This is what it looks like on me:

It's just enough darker than my actual lips to brighten up my face and make me look "finished". I really like it a lot. My only beef? I feel like these peachy shades look clashy when I wear green, blue, or teal shirts, which is only like every day. Still looking for a new fave.... Sigh.

120 days of shadow: Day 7

Today was really blustery outside, so I opted for a pewter-y look. Pewter. I hate that word. P-U-ter. Ew. Good things my eyes don't look ew. Or at least I don't think....

For my lips, I picked a bright-ish color because I didn't wanna look washed out by the gunmetal-colored shadow. It's Maybelline's Forever Metallics Lipcolor Pencil in Blush Beams. Unfortunately, it's discontinued now, but you can find them at Dollar Tree! Oh, how I love Dollar Tree. Anyway, if you really like this color, I did some stealthy investigating and found Wet 'n Wild's Megaslicks Retractable Lip Stick in Passion Fruit Pink. It looks freakishly similar, although it is slightly more than a dollar. Sigh, well what are you gonna do.... Here it is:
In other VERY important news, Kim Kardashian is COPYING me! Check out her orange eyeshadow! I soooooo started it....

120 days of shadow: Day 4

After yesterday's craziness, I was so happy to try out a neutral color. I picked a light, shimmery yellow color that's almost gold (my favorite). I dusted it all over my eyelid, and made sure to apply some in the "inner v" of my eyes too. I looked so awake today, even though I woke up much earlier than usual. It's the shimmer on the inside of your eyes! Try it, you'll like it.

One of the reasons I was so excited about wearing a less dramatic shadow was so I could finally wear some awesome lipstick! I love me some lipstick, tell you what :P. This shade is Wet 'n Wild in Russian Tea Rose ($1!!). I love this color. I tapped the lipstick onto my lips and wore it as a stain, although its texture is really nice as a regularly applied lipstick too (much better than Maybelline's crappy Color Sensational Lipstick.... ahem). Would you believe that it lasted through 5 hyper elementary kids' piano lessons? Me neither, but it did.

Just in case you were wondering, I'm wearing Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin on my cheeks. Love love LOVE that stuff. I wear it pretty much every day. It's kind of like highlighter and blush in one. Really adds some shimmer to your cheekbones.

120 days of shadow: Day 3

OK, this is late because I was out late at a crazy indie/techno show with my husband last night. That said, I took the opportunity to wear hot pink shadow to this insane show. When else can I wear it?? Well, I tried to tone it down just a tad so that I could actually wear it out in public too. I wore it grocery shopping and to teach my music lessons. Little kids are brutally honest, and no one said, "What's that pink stuff on your eyes???", so I figured I was ok. Here's what it looked like:

I blended some wine-colored cream eyeshadow (Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Wild Orchids- the darkest shade) into my crease and smudged a little bit underneath my lower lash line. That, and the fact that I wore a purple top, made the shadow look more like vibrant violet instead of HOT PINK. Which is fine with me.

Oh, and coordinating lips. Since my eyes were kind of dramatic, I decided to wear a peachy-nude gloss (Wet 'n Wild Diamond Brilliance in #617). I like this gloss because it's actually pigmented when you put it on your lips. I deeply detest the clear, shiny gloss look. Sue me. Here are my lips:

Wanna know what I think about this lipgloss? It's name is deceiving (Diamond Brilliance). It's not very brilliant. It's more of a watery finish. But the color is very nice. And it's definitely not sticky, so I like it. If you want diamondy brilliance, though, go for Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine for Lips, or Sally Hansen Diamond 12-hour Lip Treatment. Those are really nice.
